Deluxe Quadruple Actuator and Sensor Pack US$949

This pack contains two samples of Polymeric Sensors/Transducers (1cmx4cmx0.2-0.3mm) and two samples of Actuators (1cmx4cmx0.2-0.3mm) Plus  A Variable Voltage/Frequency Power Supply and Dynamic Signal Generator as well as a muscle sample mounting clamp with electrodes, as described below:    

                  1)      Pair of Polymeric Sensor/Transducer / Actuator Package  
                        This pair of  sensor/transducer/actuator polymeric samples are primarily for Sensing/Transduction/Actuation in Air
but they also do work in a wet polar liquid environment, water, biological tissue and ionic liquid environment. If it is bent, flexed or squeezed, it generates 2-4 millivolts. It can also be used as an actuator in Air and its tip motion in a cantilever mode is about 3-5 millimeters per Volt.   Typical dimensions are (approximately) 1cmx4cmx0.2mm.

                  2)     Pair of Polymeric Actuator / Sensor / Transducer Package           
                        This pair of actuator/ sensor/transducer polymeric element is primarily for Actuation in Air
but they also do work in a wet polar liquid environment, water, biological tissue and ionic liquid environment.  If a voltage of 2-4 volts is applied to the sample, it draws a maximum current of about 150 mA and its tip motion in a cantilever mode will be about 10-20 millimeters. This actuator weighs about 0.1 gm and exerts a maximum tip force (blocking force in a cantilever mode) of about 4 gmf. It can also respond to various dynamic voltage signals such as sinusoidal, square wave, triangular wave, saw tooth wave, etc.   If it is bent, flexed or squeezed, it generates 2-4 millivolts. In a moist environment or in water this element can also actuate and sense in a much more enhanced and spectacular manner. Its band-width in actuation and sensing is in KHz regimes.  Typical dimensions are (approximately) 1cmx4cmx0.3mm. These actuator/sensor/transducer elements are made from Perfluorinated polymers and come ready to use for any kind of bending/ flexing/ transduction actuation as well as vibration/motion sensing or structural dynamics or health monitoring and testing applications. The force density of these actuators are more than 40gmf/gm of actuator weight in a cantilever mode.

Typically, the linear contractile polymeric artificial muscles included in this assortment are in the form of fiber bundles of ionically active PAN fibers.  They typically contract more than 100% (100% linear strain) in linear actuation mode.

The assortment package includes: eight (8) different samples of Ionic Polymeric Metal Composite (IPMCs) artificial micro-muscles of a thickness of 20-30  microns and lengths of a few mm and two packages of micro-fiber bundle of PAN contractile polymeric artificial muscles of 10 micron in diameter per micro-fibrils that exhibit over 400% contraction in H+ solutions of 1 Normal or an electrochemical micro-cell.
